Corinthians

It’s a messy challenging world, and God’s word speaks into all of this. The word of God is always alive and active. And so accurately points to the needs, challenges and possibilities of our culture. Just as in Corinth.

First Corinthians gives us a vivid illustration of the Christian life, the church life, and the body life. Each of these is fully detailed in 1 Corinthians. What occurs is interestingly the pattern of Romans lived out in 1 Corinthians. In Romans, we have the sketch of the Christian life and the church life, whereas in 1 Corinthians we have an illustration of the Christian, church and body life.

Members of the early Church who lived in Corinth struggled with many problems that exist for us in 2022 today. Every local church is a Corinth. Through our ten-part series, we will cluster love and a theme together, opening with calling. Most readers of 1 Corinthians could have a negative impression of the church because of Corinth. Through our study of Paul’s teachings captured in 1 Corinthians, we can learn much that will help us live well in spite of the many challenges to life and godliness in our world. Loving well in a distracted world is quite the invitation.
