General Election Hustings
With much time and attention in our regional and national landscape being given to the General Election set for Thursday 4th July. We are looking forward to hosting a local hustings event for our Sevenoaks and Swanley constituency.
This is set for Monday 1st July, at 7:30pm at St Peter’s Church, Hextable, BR8 7RH, with doors open at 7pm. No prior booking is required: just turn up, while showing courtesy to our local community and nearby neighbours in street parking when our church parking is filled.
There will be three elements to our evening: short speeches, a few questions and then questions from the floor, with the following candidates confirmed:
Adam Hibbert - Social Democratic Party has had to withdraw…
Elwyn Lloyd Jones - Rejoin EU party
Laura Manston – The Green Party
James Milmine – Reform UK
Denise Scott-McDonald – Labour and Co-Operative Party
Richard Streatfeild - Liberal Democrat
Laura Trott – The Conservative Party
The set questions for this event will include:
1 The NHS is facing many challenges. How do you think this should be addressed?
2 Taxes have been front and centre of this election. How do you propose to help the poorest in society pay these?
3 In light of the urgent climate crisis, what would your party propose to promote environmental flourishing?
4 Trust in politics and politicians is always low. How do we fix this?
5 How do we proceed with immigration? Particularly those who do not arrive via small boats in the Channel?
6 Since the last election, we have left the European Union. What is your vision for our country in light of this?
